About the Event
“The Artist’s Drawing Board” is an hour long solo Kathak (Indian Classical dance) production which draws a parallel between a dancer and her character being presented. Conceptualised and performed by Swarashri Shridhar, it zooms into an artist's life and ponders on thoughts of a ‘creative block’.
How do artists mentally equip themselves to change into a character, how do they deal with the outer body experience?
Is there space for both artist and character to exist in the same body?
When the artist is not in a positive, empowered headspace, how do they creatively bring out their character? Do they become less of an artist if they are unable to? Why does it affect their self worth?
The Artist’s Drawing board is narrated in English with an amalgamation of various indian dialects and instrumental music and follows a traditional Kathak repertoire (Dhrupad Dhamaar, Chaiti, Rudra Taal, Thumri, Nazm & Tarana) choreographed by world renowned Kathak Artiste Dr. Pali Chandra.
